Privacy Policy
Mira Drive ("the app", "we", "us") is a real-time AI driving coach for learner drivers. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, what we do with it, and what we deliberately do not do. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we do not sell data, we do not run ads, and we do not have user accounts.
1. Who we are
Mira Drive is an independently-developed iOS application. You can reach us at support@miradrive.app.
2. What the app collects
2.1 Location (GPS)
The app reads your device's GPS location while you are using it, including when the screen is locked during a drive. Location is used only to provide turn-by-turn coaching and to show your position on the map. It is processed on your device. We do not store your location on any server, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising or analytics.
2.2 Microphone audio (voice questions)
When you speak to the coach, your voice is transcribed to text on your device using Apple's built-in speech recognition. The resulting text question is sent to our coach server, which forwards it to OpenAI for a response. The audio itself is not uploaded anywhere. The transcribed text is used only to generate the coach's reply and is not stored on our server beyond the duration of that single request.
2.3 Drive records (on-device only)
The app keeps a local record of your drives — duration, distance, the coach's cues, and aggregate counts (such as how many questions you asked or how many hard-brake moments occurred). These records live in storage on your phone and are never uploaded to us. They are deleted if you uninstall the app.
2.4 Diagnostic data (crash reports)
To diagnose bugs and crashes during the beta, the app uses Sentry to report uncaught exceptions and crashes. We have configured Sentry with strict privacy guardrails:
- No personal identifiers, IP address, or user IDs are attached to events.
- No GPS coordinates, no transcripts, and no free-text content from the coach are sent.
- Console logs and network request URLs are explicitly stripped before transmission.
- Performance tracing is disabled, so URL paths and route identifiers are not collected.
Crash reports include the platform (iOS), OS version, app version, device model, and the technical stack trace of the error. They are not linked to you as an individual.
2.5 In-app feedback
If you tap "Send feedback" in Settings, the app opens your device's mail app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. You can review and edit the message before sending. If you opt in to attaching a summary of your last drive, only aggregate counts (distance, duration, cue count, etc.) are included — never your transcripts, questions, location, or timestamps.
2.6 Subscription data
If you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple and recorded by our subscription provider, RevenueCat, which we use to manage subscription status and trial entitlements. Apple shares with RevenueCat the minimum information needed to verify your purchase (an anonymized App Store identifier and the products purchased). We do not receive your name, email, or payment information. We do not have direct access to your billing.
3. What we do not collect
- No accounts. The app does not require sign-up or login.
- No advertising identifiers. We do not request your IDFA, do not run ads, and do not share data with ad networks.
- No social or behavioral analytics. No Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics, no PostHog.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No selling or renting of data. Ever.
4. Third parties we share data with
The app uses three third-party services. Each receives only the data described below.
- OpenAI — receives the text of your question to the coach in order to generate a reply. OpenAI's API terms state that data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
- Mapbox — receives standard map-tile requests when the app renders the map. These contain the rough viewport you are looking at, but not your identity. See Mapbox's privacy policy.
- Sentry — receives crash reports as described in §2.4.
- RevenueCat — receives subscription/purchase metadata as described in §2.6.
5. Children
The app is intended for new drivers, who in many jurisdictions are 16 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Your rights
Because we do not maintain user accounts and do not store personal data on our servers, there is no "your data" for us to give you a copy of or to delete on request. You can erase all locally-stored drive history by uninstalling the app. If you have submitted feedback by email, you may request deletion of that email correspondence by writing to support@miradrive.app.
7. Safety disclaimer
Mira Drive is a coaching tool, not a safety-of-life or emergency service. It is not a substitute for licensed driver training, attentive driving, or compliance with traffic laws. In a crisis or mental-health emergency, please contact 9-8-8 (Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline) or 9-1-1.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes that expand collection will be highlighted in-app at next launch.
